Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic maintains and improves complex electromechanical systems, ensuring that mechanical and electrical components work together reliably and efficiently. This role focuses on diagnosing system issues, performing corrective and preventive maintenance, integrating mechanical parts with electrical controls, and documenting all work to support safe, consistent, and high-quality operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve problems with existing mechanical and electrical systems, identifying root causes of failures and implementing effective repairs.
• Perform corrective maintenance on equipment to restore optimal functionality and minimize downtime.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on machines and systems to reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns and extend equipment life.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and other control systems to address faults, alarms, and performance issues.
• Integrate mechanical components with electrical systems, including wiring, connecting sensors and actuators, and ensuring proper operation of control systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Work with pneumatic systems, including installation, adjustment, and repair of pneumatic components and circuits.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting on machinery and equipment, including three-phase motors and related power and control wiring.
• Support the operation, maintenance, and repair of stamping equipment, injection molding machines, robots, automated systems, and factory machinery.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of designs, tests, modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Collaborate closely with a team of mechanics and other technical staff to plan work, share information, and ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and integrity in all aspects of the role, including adherence to safety procedures and quality standards.
• Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely completion of maintenance and repair work.
• Handle materials, tools, and equipment safely, including lifting items up to 50 lbs as required for maintenance activities.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in electromechanical system design, development, or maintenance, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
• Hands-on experience with corrective and preventive maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Ability to troubleshoot PLCs and basic control systems.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of pneumatics and pneumatic system components.
• Experience with electrical troubleshooting, including three-phase motors, wiring, and control circuits.
• Familiarity with stamping equipment and injection molding machines.
• Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to electromechanical engineering and mobility.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities when working within a maintenance team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in all maintenance and repair work.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of regular job duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience working with robots, automated systems, and factory machinery.
• Knowledge of wiring practices for industrial equipment and control systems.
• Comfort using documentation tools to record maintenance activities, tests, and modifications.
• Awareness of sustainability and socially responsible practices in a manufacturing environment.
• Openness to overtime work on weekdays and occasional Saturdays, including availability for Sunday double-time shifts when needed.

Work Environment

This role operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime as needed on weekdays and possible Saturdays, and double-time pay for Sunday work when required. You will work as part of a close-knit team of four mechanics in a manufacturing environment focused on mobility electrification solutions, supporting equipment such as stamping presses, injection molding machines, robots, automated systems, and other factory machinery. The workplace emphasizes safety, quality, and collaboration, with access to modern tools and technologies used in electromechanical maintenance and system integration.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northvale, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
