The Recycling Coordinator supports the development and implementation of recycling and waste reduction programs for municipalities, businesses, schools, and community organizations. This role plays an important part in advancing environmental sustainability by educating the public, conducting waste assessments, and ensuring compliance with California recycling legislation such as SB 1383, AB 341, and AB 1826. The position involves regular interaction with residents, business owners, city staff, and community groups to promote responsible waste practices, resolve service concerns, and support recycling initiatives. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys community outreach, environmental education, and hands-on sustainability work.
Reports to: Recycling Programs Manager
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
This position involves a combination of office work, field visits, and community engagement activities. The role requires frequent walking, standing, and site visits in outdoor and operational environments including exposure to dust, noise, weather conditions, and waste processing environments. Travel within the service area is required.
